Reading, reviews, and buzz about books

A little book club for us to rant about books we have read, and suggest other books to read together.

For New Members

Welcome to the Restricted Section Book Club! Before replying to any comments or voting in any polls, please join the community!

Once you've joined us, please post an introduction post about yourself so we can get to know you! We like to run a tight ship around here, and also get to know all of our members as individuals. When you post your introduction, please include the following:

Occupation/Field of Study:
Favorite book(s):
Favorite author(s):
Favorite genre:

What other interests do you have besides reading?
How did you hear about us?
Anything else you would like to broadcast to the rest of us here? Please divulge. :)

And if you even THINK about naming Dan Brown or the DaVinci Code as your favorite author or book, you will be flogged immediately and force fed carrots until you come to your senses and proclaim that Dan Brown is, in fact, the cheesiest, most overrated and most annoying writer to ever be published. This is not a joke.

What this community is all about!

Each month, one volunteer member will nominate 3 novels of their choice (any genre, any length, anything really) and we will vote on it. The winning entry will be announced approximately a month and a half before the book is due. We all will read the book and then discuss our thoughts on it when we are done.

We'll also be giving each other book recommendations based on other books that we read throughout the year. Everyone likes to hear about a good book (or one that we should avoid), so please don't be shy to post about what you've been reading! We are all nosy and we want to know what you think!

Guidelines for Member Posts

1. The entries in this community are not moderated, however, any entry is subject to deletion by the mods if they contain anything off topic or inappropriate for our club.

2. There are 3 types of posts that members should typically make:
♥ Introduction Posts
♥ Book Review posts on selected Monthly Books
♥ Book Reviews and Recommendations on any other books you may read in addition to the Monthly reads.

3. Those who sign up to nominate a monthly book selection will also be asked to post polls for selection of books.
♥ If you don't have a paid account to create polls, please contact either _secret_keeper_ or eloisem via email, as we both have paid accounts and can create the poll with your selections for you.
♥ If it is your month to nominate book selections, please list a link (to amazon, or the book's website) in the poll so that people have a quick link to information on the book.
♥ Please also only select books that are still in print and are available in paperback. Some of us are on tight budgets and can't always splurge on a hardback book. If there is something you REALLY want to nominate that is hardcover only, please contact a mod to discuss whether it is an important enough work to be included in nominations.

Some Obligatory Courtesy Notes

Please be nice to each other in this community. We are all friends here and we'd like to keep it that way. Kthanx. :P
